Khella Construction

Long Island Home Additions & Dormers

Add living space with a plan for the house you already own. Khella Construction builds additions, dormers and extensions across Nassau and Suffolk County, coordinating the existing structure with the new space.

Discuss your project

More space. A plan for the whole house.

An addition needs to work with the existing foundation, framing, roof and circulation. A larger bedroom, a new living area or a second floor can change more than the room being added. Start by looking at how the new space connects to the rest of the home.

Bring a property survey and any existing drawings to the first discussion if you have them. The project review should identify the scope, design work, site constraints and construction sequence before finish selections take over the conversation.

What we can help with

  • Shed dormers and full dormers
  • Second-story additions
  • Rear and side extensions
  • New living areas connected to the existing home

Planning your project

What happens before construction?

The existing structure and site need to be reviewed, drawings developed for the proposed work, and any required approvals identified. The applicable town, village or city requirements depend on the property and the scope.

What changes the cost?

Foundation work, the size of the addition, structural connections, roof changes, utility extensions and finish selections all contribute. A written proposal should explain what is included and where allowances or unresolved items remain.

How is the existing house protected?

Discuss weather protection, access, work areas and occupied portions of the house before construction begins. The schedule should account for the points where the existing roof or exterior will be opened.
